Roma and Milan: Pioneer Franchises in NBA Europe
The NBA’s Europe League will feature a mix of top European clubs, like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and newly established teams such as Roma, Milan, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), and Manchester City.
“We envision a league with some of the best European clubs and new teams in major markets, including Roma and Milan,” Tatum stated.
Roma’s Arena plans: Building for the Future
The NBA has set ambitious standards for its Europe League arenas. AS Roma’s PaleEur currently falls short of these requirements, but the club is committed to addressing the issue.
“We will ask any investor interested in one of our franchises to also invest in the construction of an arena with NBA standards,” Tatum said.
The NBA’s partnership with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) is expected to facilitate negotiations with local governments and institutions to ensure the necessary support for new arena construction.
What This Means for Rome and AS Roma Fans
Roma’s inclusion in the NBA Europe League signifies a boost for the city’s sports scene and offers Giallorossi fans an exciting new chapter in the club’s history.
“This is a great opportunity for AS Roma to expand its sporting empire and do something historic for the city of Rome,” Tatum said. “We are committed to making this project a reality within the next two or three years.”
