Basketball superstar Luka Doncic is expected to miss the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks for several weeks. This was reported by ESPN on Friday. The reason for this is a “strain in his left calf” and the Slovenian will be re-evaluated in four weeks. Doncic suffered an injury in the “Christmas Game” on Wednesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves (99:105).
The 25-year-old was injured in the game at the end of the second quarter and left the hall on crutches. According to ESPN, he underwent an MRI scan. The Slovenian has struggled with calf injuries several times in recent years and therefore missed nearly the entire pre-season training camp.
The loss is bitter for the Mavs around German professional Maxi Kleber – and especially for Doncic, because if a player misses more than 15 games in an entire season, he is no longer eligible for NBA awards like of Most Valuable Player (MVP). Currently, the superstar is averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists.
