Curry passes Doncic: The second interim result of the All-Star voting

The NBA has announced the second interim result of this year’s All-Star voting. Stephen Curry managed to overtake Dallas star Luka Doncic. But he is far from guaranteed a starting spot in the All-Star Game.

To date, the Berliner has received 347,434 votes from fans worldwide. Wagner is currently in seventh place among forwards in the Eastern Conference. Teammate Paolo Banchero is in fourth place in the ranking (see below).

All-star voting: mode, system, process

The annual All-Star Voting gives NBA fans the chance to actively participate in the selection of participants for the All-Star Game on February 16th. Every day you can cast your vote for a total of ten different players (five each from the west and five from the east).

The cumulative fan sentiment ultimately accounts for 50 percent of the overall decision; the second half is determined by selected media representatives and the players themselves.

The five players per conference (two guards, three forwards/centers) with the most votes from fans, media and players will receive a spot in the All-Star Game. All other players on the teams are nominated by the coaches.

All-Star Voting: The second intermediate result

Eastern Conference, Frontcourt

Giannis Antetokounmpo received the most votes of all players. Compared to the previous week, the Greek received over a million more votes, thus expanding his lead.

Eastern Conference, Backcourt

Not much has changed in the Eastern Conference backcourt compared to last Thursday either. Places one through five remained unchanged as Tyrese Maxey moved past Cade Cunningham into sixth place.

Western Conference, Frontcourt

Nikola Jokic not only dominates on the floor, but also in the All-Star voting. However, things got more exciting in the stands behind: LeBron James reduced the gap to Kevin Durant from more than 100,000 votes to around 2,000. In addition, “Rookie of the Year” winner Wembanyama overtook Lakers center Anthony Davis.

Western Conference, Backcourt

There has also been an interesting development in the small positions in the Western Conference: Stephen Curry pushed Luka Doncic out of second place, thereby drastically increasing his chances of a starting spot in the All-Star Game. Just a week ago, the Slovenian was leading Curry by around 60,000 votes.
