The Boston Celtics showed an absolute show of power on New Year’s Eve in the Eastern Conference. LeBron James’ first game at 40, however, was a failure.

The reigning champion Boston Celtics put on an absolute show of power in the NBA. There was a 125:71 win against the Toronto Raptors. It was the second-largest win in franchise history for Boston.
The men from Massachusetts were particularly precise during the shoot. 54 percent of all shots were successful, including 51 percent of three-pointers. The best scorer was once again superstar Jayson Tatum for the record champions.
On the other hand, it was an evening to forget for the Raptors. Not only was it the 15th defeat in the 16th away game, the Canadians’ losing streak now stands at eleven. It probably doesn’t matter to him that Scottie Barnes managed a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. The Austrian Jakob Pöltl contributed seven points and 13 rebounds.
Cavs crash LeBron’s birthday party
The fact that the Celtics are not in first place in the East is mainly due to the still dominant Cleveland Cavaliers. They won away from home against the Los Angeles Lakers with 122:110.
The Cavs’ outstanding man was Jarrett Allen with 27 points and 14 rebounds, he hit twelve of his 14 shots. Donovan Mitchell was also accurate with 26 points. The Cavs won every single quarter by points and were always in control of the game.
For LeBron James it was a failed party against his former team. The “King” played in the NBA for the first time at the age of 40. He put up a good 23 points, seven assists and four rebounds. However, the show was stolen by Austin Reeves, who narrowly missed a triple-double with 35 points, ten assists and nine rebounds.
The Cavs remain undisputed at the top of the league with 29 wins from 33 games, the Lakers are 18-14 in the no man’s land of the West, currently in seventh seed.
