As always, Austin Reaves will start the new season with a certain pressure on his shoulders, he who plays in a prestigious franchise. Before the start of Lakers training camp, he made a small revelation about life with LeBron James.
Because the Lakers is the most famous franchise in NBA history, it’s not always easy to wear this jersey. The “Purple and Gold” outfit comes with a lot of expectations, because it has the obligation to honor great players like Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
And then, there is also strong popular pressure, fans are among the most demanding in the world. This is the reason why many talents lose their teeth in California. But conversely, those who thrive in this context become bigger stars than they would be elsewhere in the league. For example this is the case of Austin Reaves, 12.4 points and 3.7 assists in the career average.
LeBron James refused 1 on 1
At the dawn of his fourth season in the league, the guard knew he needed to be more than a simple complementary player for the Lakers. Surely he can teach some basics to Bronny James, who is also a small position 2. While on the YouTube channel “BustaJack Golf”, he also gave a fatherly opinion:
Personally I’m ready to play against anyone 1v1 I’m not saying I’ll win against everyone, but I’m ready to play. For example I can play against LeBron. But it has never happened because he always refuses 1v1s. He said that for him it is not real basketball. And I tend to agree with that.
Usually, basketball players like to challenge each other 1 on 1 to find out who is the best, to have the right to beat the other if there is a victory. but LeBron James not in this state of mind, because for him, real basketball is played 5 against 5 on the whole court. It’s not necessarily the most fun method, but what can you say to such a champion? As for Internet users, we respect his opinion:
@BronGotGame : Another reason he became the GOAT. We don’t care about this 1v1 nonsense, we want to know what a player can do in 5v5. Do you have the talent to pull the right action at the right time?
@Walterdiggs_ : He’s right, not basketball.
LeBron James isn’t the type to go 1-on-1 in practice because he doesn’t consider it a real basketball… I wonder if the arrival of his eldest Bronny will change his mind. Who doesn’t want to spank their child?
