Guinean reggae artist Elie Kamano (middle) said his album is both denunciatory, bluntly depicting the challenges and realities of the Sahel countries.

Guinean reggae artist Elie Kamano signed his new 18-track album entitled “Support for AES” on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, in Ouagadougou.

Guinean reggaeman artist, Elie Kamano, real name Djéliman Kamano, is on a pan-African tour in the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). Present in the land of upright men, he, on the occasion, hosted a press conference for the dedication of his new album entitled: “Support for the AES”, on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, in Ouagadougou. The new maxi sung entirely in French is composed of 18 tracks, with flagship songs such as, “CEDEAO”, “Sans blague”, “Dans ça?”, “Africa” and “AES”.

The album, according to the artist, is available on a USB key at a price of 5,000 CFA francs. Mr. Kamano confided that the origins of his pan-Africanism are in the country of upright men, where he came for the first time in 2009. He also declared that today he is in a logic that is to perpetuate the achievements of reggae which, in his opinion, is a weapon. “My album is both denunciatory and poignant, by describing frankly the challenges and realities of the Sahel countries,” he said. Mr. Kamano further affirmed that for him, even if “Guinea is no longer part” of the dynamics of the AES States, it is impossible for him to betray the fight of these populations and their leaders.

“I want to make my voice heard through this tour, in order to encourage these three presidents (Goïta, Tiani and Traoré) in their efforts to establish the true foundations of African unity,” he said. According to the reggae man, a “big concert” is planned in his program, to raise funds to support the efforts of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) engaged in the fight.

Asked what his assessment is of the position taken by his predecessor Tiken Jah Fakoly, the Guinean reggaeman maintained that no human action is perfect. But, added Elie Kamano, it is important not to focus on their faults, but on the actions they carry out for the sovereignty of their people. The artist Elie Kamano is from Guéckédou in the forest region of Guinea. He is a Guinean singer, author and composer. He was received in audience on August 5 in Niamey by the President of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Fatherland (CNSP), Abdourahamane Tiani.
