Tyre Troubles Forces Early Retirement for Csomós and Nagy

ERT Sports News – In a disappointing turn of events, motivations in the European Rally Championship (ERC) hit a snag for Team MRF Tyres’ Csomós and co-driver Attila Nagy. The duo was forced to retire after just four stages of the ERC Staff House Rally Hungary due to a lack of replacement tyres.

Damage and Shortage

  • Picked up tyre damage on SS3 and again on SS4.
  • Having carried only one spare on their Citroën C3 Rally2, they couldn’t continue without additional tyres.

Csomós and Nagy’s rally dreams were dashed as they made the heartbreaking decision to return to the service park in Veszprém despite showing competitive sector times.

"We carried only one spare, which is a pity from us, but still we can learn something new. Even in the first loops I would always take two spares, but the decision was taken to use just one and, sorry to say, these things happen."

Learning from Mistakes

Despite the disappointment, Csomós and Nagy remain resolute. They plan to restart with renewed commitment and an amended strategy.

"We will restart and we will see how does the car, the team and tyres work. We are very committed to making some fun on the stages and have some good times. For sure we will take two spares this time, even three if we could with one on the roof!"

Csomós and Nagy rolled off as number 16 on the final day, trailing overnight leaders Andrea Mabellini and Virginia Lenzi by one spot.

Next Steps After Disappointment

Despite the withdrawal, Csomós and Nagy remain optimistic. Follow their journey on Facebook as they restart and strive for success in future rallies.
