Appointed on December 8, 2024, on the occasion of the ministerial reshuffle, Cdt Passawendé Pélagie Kabré/Kaboré was officially installed in her position as Minister of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity by the Secretary General of the Government and the Council of ministers, Ousmane Ouattara. The handover ceremony took place on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, in Ouagadougou. The new Minister in charge of Humanitarian Action expressed her gratitude to the President of Faso, Ibrahim Traoré, and to his Prime Minister for the trust placed in her in this particular context of the history of Burkina Faso.
“The emotion that drives me is all the stronger as my ascension to this position occurs in a difficult security and humanitarian context, marked by the war against terrorism which has been imposed on us since 2015 and which continues to claim victims. , to cause a lot of suffering to our populations, and to deprive them of a large part of basic social services,” she said. She therefore affirmed that the collective resilience of the Burkinabè people is being severely tested by the humanitarian crisis with the corollary of the displacement of thousands of people who, violently torn from their environment, find themselves deprived of their land and any means of subsistence. subsistence.
Cdt Passawendé Pélagie Kabré/Kaboré stressed that despite the continued efforts to reconquer the territory and resettle the populations in the liberated areas, many challenges remain to be overcome. “This is why, in accordance with the vision of the highest authorities, we will work to better respond to the needs of all these people impacted by the effects of this war, to improve the living conditions of all our fellow citizens in vulnerable situations and to reduce social inequalities,” she promised. For her, inclusion is key to her mission.
She is committed to working for the social well-being of all Burkinabè people, while maintaining a closer connection with marginalized groups, women, children and people with disabilities so that no one is left behind. . And to confide that the response to the humanitarian crisis was placed in the second place assigned by the charter to the Transition, just after the reconquest of the national territory. As for the outgoing minister, Nandy Somé, she expressed her gratitude to the President of Faso for the trust he placed in her by entrusting him with such a strategic ministry.
She also paid tribute to the department’s staff who accompanied her throughout her mission with their expertise and support. “Thanks to your efforts, we have achieved significant progress in the areas of solidarity, humanitarian action, national reconciliation, as well as in addressing issues related to gender, childhood and family,” she meant.
