“These guys created an atmosphere of fear”: Mike Tanzey speaks out against racism in Lyon stands

Mike Tanzey, an ardent OL fan, took to social media on Sunday evening to express his heartfelt condemnation of racism. This comes after witnessing xenophobic incidents involving certain Lyon supporters in Marseille. He opens up about the prevailing climate of hatred he regularly encounters in the stands.

Mike, a 24-year-old residing in the Paris region, has been a lifelong fan of OL. Reflecting on his early years, he recalls, “It all began when I was a child in the early 2000s because my father was already a fan. He watched everything, even OLTV,” he explains. “My mother was an absolute fan of Juninho, considering him the greatest star in the world even today.” (Laughs.) As a subscriber to Groupama Stadium, the student rarely misses a match and frequently travels to support his beloved club, often accompanied by his friend Océane.
