The Mijas City Council grants subsidies of more than 726,000 euros to sports entities in the municipality

Mijas, January 14, 2025.- The City Council of Mijasthrough the Department of Sports, has reported the granting of subsidies worth 726,509.96 euros to sports entities in the municipality. These aid will be used to cover the expenses presented by the clubs corresponding to the 2023 financial year.

The thirteen sports entities that will receive aid are: the Mijas Costa Handball Club 78,000 euros; La Cala de Mijas Sports Club 57,046 euros; Mijas Sports Club 43,400 euros; Málaga Fly Fishing Sports Club Fly Fishing 2,709.86 euros; Mijas Racket Sports Club 59,600 euros; Suel Badminton Club 4,312.79 euros; Club Deportivo Mijas Unión Basket 63,401.16 euros; Cándor Football Club 53,145.44 euros; Mijas Swimming Club 63,900 euros; Mijas Sports Club 292,525.43 euros; Tarmina Chess Club 1,179.85 euros; Sohail Rhythmic Gymnastics Sports Club 1,674.75 euros; and the Sala de Armas Adalid Mijas Sports Club 5,611.68 euros:

In the coming days, the clubs will receive the amounts assigned to cover the operating expenses they have faced during the year, which include federation expenses, equipment, travel and stays of players or doctors, among others.

The councilor for Sports, María Francisca Alarcón, has pointed out that this aid is important for the operation of the Mijas clubs, which is why “they have increased by 76,135.28 euros compared to the previous year, exceeding 726,000 euros.” Thus, with these subsidies, it has confirmed “the support of the City Council for the clubs, the athletes and the families themselves, who have a prominent role in promoting the values ​​of sport and physical activity.” Furthermore, he highlighted that in this call aid has been granted to three more clubs compared to those that benefited in the previous year.

On September 16, 2024, the 2024 call for Subsidies to Sports Entities of the Province was published in the Official Gazette of the Province. Mijas to finance the current expenses for the 2023 financial year. These aid are granted via competitive competition and after justification of the expenses, this being the second time that it has been done through this procedure.

According to the data provided by the clubs, a total of 3,138 athletes are benefited through this aid (2,205 in collective modalities and 933 in individual modalities). Of the global count, 257 athletes attended championships in Andalusia and 94 attended championships in Spain.
