Indonesian Badminton Stars Aim for Three Golds at ASEAN Games
Indonesian Badminton Players Make History in the Making
JAKARTA – Indonesia’s badminton contingent is within touching distance of an unprecedented feat at the 2025 ASEAN Games, with three gold medals in the individual events well within their grasp. With two all-Indonesian finals already secured, the countdown to greatness is on.
Ubaidillah and Farhan Spar in Men’s Singles Final
In the men’s singles, Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah (“Ubed”) and Alwi Farhan sealed their spots in the gold medal match after seeing off Malaysian opponents in the semifinals. Ubed dismantled Leong Jun Hao 21-18, 21-13, while Alwi went three sets against Justin Hoh, winning 21-10, 15-21, 21-14.
Indonesian Dominance in Men’s Doubles
In the men’s doubles, Sabar Karyaman and Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani secured their spot in the final with a 21-16, 21-17 win against Malaysia’s Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun. They’ll face another Malaysian pair, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, in the final.
Women’s Doubles: Indonesia Favorites
The women’s doubles is Indonesia’s last hope for a gold medal. Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari stormed into the final after a comfortably 21-10, 21-9 victory over Vietnam’s Bui Bich Phuong/Vu Thi Trang.
Indonesia’s Road to Gold Not Smooth, But Rewarding
Though four Indonesians fell short in the semifinals, settling for bronze, their overall performance has set the stage for a golden finale. Putri Kusuma Wardani, Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana, Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum, and Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Pasaribu all gave valiant efforts that ended in silverware, not gold.
FEIERT Indonesia at the ASEAN Games
All gold medal matches will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Gymnasium 4, Thammasat University Rangsit Campus, Bangkok. The eyes of a nation will be on each Indonesian shuttler, hoping for an historic trifecta.
