Mojica, who has navigated personal hardships and a challenging community environment, hopes judo can serve as a lifeline for young people the way it was for her. “Judo helped me channel the suffering of my parents’ divorce and the negative environment that surrounded me in my community. I want other young people to find in the sport a way to grow and change their lives,” she added.

A Public-Private Alliance for Sports Development

The gym’s opening was made possible through a public-private alliance, with classes scheduled for children aged 6 to 13 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and young people over 13 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

Scholarships and Support from Local Leaders

To make judo accessible to more youngsters, Mojica has secured 20 scholarships for talented and financially challenged children and youth.
