Meditation Seminar Bridges Cultural Understanding for Korean-American Community

Addressing a Need Within the Community

The Korean-American Family Counseling Center (KAFCC), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Korean-American community, is partnering with the ECHO Institute at Chapman University to host a unique meditation seminar. The event, titled The Whole Universe is Within You, is scheduled for March 7th at the Campus Interface Center (1 University Dr. Orange) from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

The collaboration stems from a recognized need within the community. Counselors at KAFCC have observed that Korean clients often believe meditation can aid in resolving personal and family issues, but counselors sometimes lack the specific expertise to guide them effectively.

According to KAFCC Director Susan Choi, Meditation is gaining a lot of interest among people working in health care these days, and Through meditation, you can condition your mind and help solve problems. The seminar is open to the public, including Chapman University students, and is intended to broaden understanding of meditation practices.

The seminar will feature instruction from a distinguished panel of experts:

  • Dr. Minas C. Kapatos: A quantum physicist, cosmologist, climate change researcher, and medical philosopher, currently serving as a Distinguished Professor of Physics at Chapman University and Director of the ECHO Research Institute.
  • Ashok Narasimhan: A serial entrepreneur and CEO with a background in technology and published research on quantum theory. He is an Affiliated Scholar at Chapman University.
  • Suwami Sivasankaryananda: The director of the LA Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center, with extensive training and experience in yoga and meditation.
