Head coach of Real Betis Manuel Pellegrini commented on the victory of the “white-greens” in Chisinau over “Petrokub”.
– The most important thing was to score three points. The team had an advantage throughout the entire game, did not give the opponent the opportunity to carry out counterattacks, and was able to keep a clean sheet, which we had not been able to achieve for several games.
When the score is 0-1 you unconsciously tend to defend, but apart from the disallowed goal we defended well.
With the score 0:1, we had several opportunities to score a second goal. We didn’t do that, and the last minutes were more intense. Defensively we were careful to keep the score we needed to achieve.
Ideally, it would be to finish between 9th and 16th places in the table, because I don’t think we can rise to eighth place. It is important to qualify, get three points at home with Finnish HJK and continue to participate in the tournament, because it is very difficult to compete in three competitions,” said Pellegrini.
