Manchester City Dominates Bournemouth with Jeremy Doku’s Brilliance
November 4, 2023
Manchester City, led by the exceptional performance of Jeremy Doku, secured a resounding 6-1 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, propelling themselves to the top of the Premier League standings. This triumph places them ahead of Tottenham and Arsenal, who are yet to play their 11th round matches.
The Citizens enjoyed a comfortable afternoon at home, with their new Belgian winger playing a pivotal role in the first five goals.
However, the victory was marred by the injury of their star player, Erling Haaland, who was substituted at halftime for Phil Foden.
According to Pep Guardiola, Haaland suffered a “sprained ankle” and the decision to replace him was made to avoid any further risks. “He wasn’t comfortable,” added the Spanish coach.
Doku opened the scoring with a perfectly placed shot in the 30th minute and went on to provide three crucial assists to Bernardo Silva (33rd and 83rd minute) and Foden (64th minute). He also contributed to the 3-0 lead with a left-footed strike that deflected off his teammate Manuel Akanji (37th minute). Nathan Aké sealed the victory with a goal in the 88th minute.
