For the first edition of this competition, the Luxembourg quartet consisting of Patrick Rahmé, captain Jens Buch, Loïc Barthels and Arnaud Castellana, left with a smile from Pyrénées-Atlantiques. After two days of qualification, the Grand Ducal golfers finished 11th out of 16 participating countries, which allowed them to qualify for matchplay (direct confrontations) in the 3rd group.
All this despite the unpredictable weather, according to Arnaud Castellana: “The weather conditions were very complicated with rain and wind gusts of up to 40 km/h. It was a very complicated first day for all the players.
Qualified for the rest of the competition together with Italy, Belgium and Switzerland, the Luxembourgers managed to defeat the Italians after a one-sided duel (3-0). Then, fate reserved Switzerland, the one who defeated Belgium, for Luxembourg players, unfortunately this time there was a defeat (2-1). Despite everything, Luxembourg was ranked 10th, the declared intention of its representatives before the competition began. In the end, France was crowned home ahead of Belgium.
