Game 3 Recap: From Dominance to Drama
with a 5-1 lead heading into the final period, the Knights saw their lead dwindle to just one goal with time ticking away. The Generals’ late-game comeback attempt, however, fizzled with a dazzling empty-net goal from Easton Cowan.
Knights’ Early Firepower
- Easton Cowan led the charge, scoring twice and recording an assist; now the new all-time Knights’ playoff points leader (92).
- Kasper Halttunen tallied a hat trick (10th playoff goal), pushing the Knights to an early 5-1 advantage.
- The Generals’ first six shots of the game were futile as London responded with two unanswered goals.
A Wild Third Period
In a dramatic shift, Oshawa fought back with four unanswered goals in the final frame, propelled by Luca D’Amato, Colby Barlow, Luke Torrance, and Beckett Sennecke’s clutch plays. The Generals wrapped a tendsome second period with a score of 5-4, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion.
London’s Heroics secure the victory
With the extra attacker and an empty net, Jesse Nurmi and Easton Cowan combined to create the Knights’ sixth goal, stretching the lead to 6-4. The Generals’ Sennecke brought it close again at 6-5 but time ran out on their comeback dreams. Cowan’s second goal, an empty-netter, sealed the deal for London’s 7-5 victory.
Cowan’s Historic Night
Easton Cowan’s three-point performance not only secured his position as the Knights’ all-time playoff points leader but also earned him OHL Player of the Week honors, alongside teammate Noah Read (Rookie of the Week) and goalie Austin Elliott (Goaltender of the Week).
