TAIPEI — World No. 11 Loh Kean Yew is poised to capture his 10th career title after a sensational 21-18, 21-9 victory over home favorite Wang Tzu-wei in the men’s singles semi-finals of the US$240,000 Taipei Open on May 10. The 27-year-old Singaporean will face world No. 7 Chou Tien-chen in the final at the Taipei Arena on May 11, with Chou leading their head-to-head record 4-3.
Comeback Queen: Loh’s Stunning Resurgence
Trailing 1-7 early on, Loh staged a remarkable comeback to triumph over Wang, who had beaten him in their last three encounters. After switching tactics midway, Loh found his form and sealed the first game 21-18 with an exceptional rally andinet shots.
“I had trouble controlling the drift which was not to my favor, so I did my best to come up with solutions,” Loh quoted.
