LIV players lead the Asian Tour. Therefore, at the end of the day of action, there are four of them occupying the first three positions on English soil. Leading on Friday, thanks to a strong 61, Peter Uihlein followed up with a solid 69 (five birdies, one bogey, one double bogey), in this third round. So the American remains in the leader’s seat (-12 total).
“I seemed to hit a lot of greens towards the end. I missed a green early and made a double bogey, then I felt like I hit almost every green until the 15th, which put me on a streak. Made some good putts at the end, missed a few putts in the middle of the course, so it made up for it a little bit“.
Varner III and Bland in the fight, Catlin wins
The 34-year-old, however, has a slight lead over Harold Varner III (-11). Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces partner on the dissident circuit recorded a stunning record 65 (six birdies), the best of the day, without a single bogey. The third step of the podium (-10) is occupied by two other LIV members, Richard Bland and Caleb Surratt, each author of a score of 68 (six birdies, three bogeys) and 69 (six birdies, two double bogey).
Richard T. Lee ranks alone in 5th (-9 total). Andy Sullivan, Sadom Kaewkanjana and Robert Dinwiddie followed in 6th position (-8). The top 10 is completed by another trio who share 9th place (-7). We will see Taichi Kho, Thomas Pieters and Sampson Zheng there. Winner of the International Series Macau and the Saudi Open this year on the Asian circuit, John Catlin completed the course in 70 shots this Saturday (three birdies, one eagle, two bogeys, one double bogey). At the bottom, the Californian is in 31st place (-3).
