Sept-Îles Judo Academy’s Leiya Chiasson has qualified for the Pan American Judo Championships in Ecuador, following a successful competition at the Edmonton International Judo Championships.

Chiasson’s performance in Edmonton, concluding on Sunday, was highlighted by a first-place finish in the under-18, under-52 kg category. This victory secured her spot at the Pan American Cadet Championships, scheduled to take place in Guayaquil, Ecuador, from April 28 to 30, 2026.
In addition to her gold medal, Chiasson also earned a bronze medal in the senior category, adding to her impressive weekend. She will continue her competitive tour in Western Canada at the Matsuru Pacific International Judo Championships in Richmond, British Columbia.
