ALMATY, Kazakhstan — Figure skater Lee Haein made the most of skating last at the 2025 Denis Ten Memorial on Thursday, capturing first place in the women’s short program.

Improving on her 59.39 points from the Kinoshita Group Cup earlier this season, Lee’s solid performance in Almaty showcased her growth. Despite an under-rotation on a jump combination, she delivered a clean double Axel and a flawless triple flip, earning top scores for her spins and step sequences.

- Madeline Schizas of Canada secured second place with 55.55 points despite a fall on her triple loop.
- USA’s Josephine Lee rounded out the top three with 54.15 points after stumbles on her triple loop and combo jump.
Unexpected Absence
Home favorite Sofia Samodelkina was expected to challenge for the podium but had to withdraw due to a knee injury sustained while practicing a triple Axel.
