Leclerc: “In Las Vegas with… balance.” Sainz: “Winning and hoping for McLaren mistakes”

Las Vegas weekend is upon us. In the roulette of the “city of sin” Ferrari will play its chances of closing in on McLaren in the race for the constructors’ title, which Maranello has lacked since 2008. An important objective, yet the Cavallino men are managing the tension and maintaining calm , as confirmed by Charles Leclerc: “Everyone is very calm and it’s a really positive thing. I think it wasn’t like that a year or two ago. The feeling was very, very different. We got very emotional or let it affect us a little anymore from what was happening. Leclerc attributes part of the credit for this growth to team principal Frédéric Vasseur: “It seems to me that we are much more solid as a team and we don’t get caught up in emotional ups or downs. We simply try to stay balanced, and this is above all thanks to Fred” . When asked about the constructors’ battle with McLaren currently at the top of the standings with a 36-point lead over the Prancing Horse, Leclerc responded as follows: “For McLaren, are we the favourites? They have often said this, even with Red Bull. It’s not It’s easy to predict what will happen: we’re all very close at the moment and so it can go one way or the other very quickly. It’s true that last year we were really strong here, so we hope to repeat that performance, trying to win there Sunday this time.”

Carlos Sainz had his say on the current situation in the constructors’ championship: “The constructors’ championship does not just depend on us, but also on McLaren. They have a good advantage and on two of the last three tracks where we will race they should be stronger. It depends even from their mistakes, we can only take podiums and victories and see what they do.” The Spaniard underlined how low temperatures are a factor feared by Ferrari: “It should be a track where we go fast, but when you see the temperatures and how cold it is… those are the conditions in which we sometimes struggle.” A lucid analysis, but one that does not completely hide the Spaniard’s desires and objectives: “I would like to win the championship for Ferrari this year. I think it would be a great way to end the season. At the same time, we have gone through a very difficult period in the middle of the season which could cost us dearly.
