The contractual extension of Lauri Markkanen with the Utah Jazz being the second richest in Free Agency. The former Chicago Bulls player signed a five-year extension 238 million dollarswhich raises his salary for the 2024-25 season from $18 million to $42.2 million.
This change is the richest in the history of the Jazz franchise and include a clause which prohibits the team from trading him until the end of the February deadline. As a result, any trade talk regarding Markkanen will likely be postponed until next summer.
I trust the organization. It’s a weight off my shoulders and now I can just focus on the main thing: playing basketball at a high level. I can’t stress about it, but you can’t pretend you don’t feel certain things. It’s a great feeling knowing I’ll be staying in Utah.

After being selected in the seventh entry call 2017 NBA draft from the Minnesota Timberwolves, he was later traded to the Bulls as part of a deal for Jimmy Butler. He was acquired by Cleveland in 2021, where he averaged 14.8 points in the 2021-22 season, before joining the Jazz.
