The Pavilion of Tomelloso Sports City hosted this Saturday the Regional Judo Championship in the absolute category. From this championship, the classifications for the national southern sector will emerge, bringing together judokas from Extremadura, Andalusia, the Canary Islands and Castilla-La Mancha. The president of the regional Federation and at the same time the head of the Tomelloso Judo Club, Yamila Gómez, hopes that some of his students will qualify.
In total, there are 64 participants who will jump on three tatami mats placed in the pavilion. “It is a good participation, and above all, there is a good level, which is what is important to us at the federation level.”
Laura Martínez, who is an Olympic diploma in the last Olympic Games in Paris, is the luxury guest of this championship. With him is his current partner, José Antonio Aranda, who has won medals several times in the European championship and internationally. Gómez had the opportunity to chat with the mayor, Javier Navarro, and the Sports Councilor, Benjamín de Sebastián, who attended the championship.
