Joe Cole Urges Chelsea to Sign Kevin de Bruyne as Perfect Summer Addition

Former Chelsea player Joe Cole has expressed his desire for his former club to sign Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne this summer, who is set to leave the Citizens on a free transfer.

De Bruyne, 33, announced earlier this month that he would be leaving Manchester City at the end of the season, marking the end of a successful 10-year stint. Although he has only played 14 games in the Premier League this season due to hernia issues, he returned to action last Saturday in City’s 5-2 win over Crystal Palace.

During an interview on the Dressing Room Podcast, Cole suggested that Chelsea should target De Bruyne as the perfect addition to their squad. “I think there’s a bit in the story. After the game we interviewed him, it was a tough job, I don’t want to ask a stupid question, but you jump around, you know you can’t tell you what it really feels, but I asked, ‘How do you feel about moving?’ and said your kid’s a little scared,” Cole recalled.

Cole believes that De Bruyne would be a perfect fit for Chelsea, especially considering his past tenure at the club. “My impression is that you really don’t want to leave. I think if you fit the contract you deserve, just like Liverpool and Mo Salah. How could you get him out? What I saw on Saturday…is it free? If you are worried about this move, you settle in England and maybe another Premier League club. Listen to Alex Ferguson at the door when he got home from training. Are there enough cheeky attempts? You know who is perfect, you know what… Chelsea. I know he was there before.”
