Karnataka Kreedakoota-2025: Udupi gears up to host an exciting sports spectacle with 1,373 athletes

Udupi is gearing up for the much-awaited Karnataka Kreedakoota-2025, a multi-sports extravaganza that will take place from January 17 to 23. Organized by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports in collaboration with the Karnataka Olympic Association and the District Administration, this prestigious event will showcase the talent of 1,373 athletes in various disciplines including canoeing, canoeing, archery, cycling, wrestling, boxing, hockey, lawn. tennis, table tennis, kabaddi, judo and athletics.

In a press conference on Monday, District Commissioner Vidya Kumari K gave information on the framework of the event. While Dakshina Kannada hosts events like volleyball, basketball and swimming, Udupi is the heart of the action. The beautiful Swarna River in Brahmavara is the backdrop for canoeing and canoeing activities, while archery enthusiasts can look forward to competitions at the MJC Ground in Manipal. A plethora of other activities, including cycling, hockey, lawn tennis and table tennis, will be held at various locations in Udupi and Manipal.

The official opening ceremony will begin on January 17 in Mangaluru, in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The event will conclude with a grand closing ceremony in Udupi on January 23, where distinguished guests including Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Home Minister Dr. Mr. Parameshwar will attend.

DC Vidya Kumari K also pointed out that the district administration, along with MAHE, Manipal, has diligently arranged accommodation and food for all the participating athletes. Also, the synthetic track at the Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium in Ajjarakad, which has seen better days after a decade of use, has been renovated to ensure that the athletes enjoy world-class facilities throughout the event.
