NIENHAGEN. While the rain was raging outside last Saturday, August 17th, the atmosphere in the SV Nienhagen hall was riotous. On this day, the judo section was allowed to hold the final of the Lower Saxony regional league, in which it sent a women’s and a men’s team into the fight. 15 other teams from all over Lower Saxony gathered in the hall for this occasion.
After shining as Lower Saxony champions in their first participation last year, the SV Nienhagen women’s team was able to secure a place on the podium as runners-up in their second season. Only the Braunschweig team, against whom the women suffered their only defeat with a narrow 3:2, was able to overtake them.
The men were able to confidently and safely defend their runner-up position from last season. They were neck and neck with Isenbüttel and were only one match away from winning the championship title themselves.
The spectacle was accompanied by a full hall with families, friends and interested people cheering on the eager fighters. Proud of their success and with their goal in sight, the judoka are looking forward to the next season.
