SCICLI, Italy – In a heartwarming ceremony, the Adolfo Padua Award was bestowed upon the Judo Club Koizumi Scicli and its esteemed Maestro Maurizio Pelligra. This prestigious recognition is awarded to sports clubs and individuals who have significantly impacted and contributed to the athletic landscape in the province.
I’ve always believed in the power of sport to shape young minds and bodies. Seeing my students flourish both locally and internationally is the ultimate reward.
The Judo Club Koizumi Scicli, active for over four decades, has produced an impressive line-up of accomplished judokas. Among them are Vincenzo Pelligra, a regular fixture in international events, and Savita Russo, a member of the Italian Olympic team.
The club’s success is undoubtedly linked to its devoted mentor, Maestro Maurizio Pelligra, who has consistently promoted the core values of judo – respect, courtesy, self-control, and perseverance – within the club.
