Juan Carlos Ferrero Warns Carlos Alcaraz About His Obsession with Novak Djokovic

Juan Carlos Ferrero Mentors Carlos Alcaraz, But Sets Boundaries

Since joining forces in 2018, Juan Carlos Ferrero has played a significant role in Carlos Alcaraz’s development, acting as a mentor and second father figure. However, Ferrero doesn’t shy away from publicly guiding his young protégé when he believes it will benefit his progress.

A Warning from Ferrero

In a recent interview with the Spanish daily Marca, Ferrero addressed Alcaraz’s admitted obsession with Novak Djokovic. While understanding the allure of competing against the world’s top-ranked player, Ferrero cautioned his player.

“These are his thoughts. We don’t usually tell him, ‘Let’s go after Djokovic and keep that in mind.’ It’s natural for it to cross his mind when you’re ranked number 1 or 2 in the world and aspire to challenge each other. However, it’s important to remember that the circuit is not solely about Novak. To reach that level, you must first defeat numerous other players.”
