Jarry: “I’M TRYING TO KEEP EVERYTHING POSITIVE”

“I think we have to put the game aside a little bit, see where I come from a little bit. It was already tremendously positive to have been able to come here and be able to compete well.

– Nicholas Jarry

In his first interview after the match, Jarry revealed that he’s approaching this setback with a positive attitude:

“I am, above all, trying to keep everything positive, that the elbow held up. We’ll see how he wakes up tomorrow, but I feel like nothing is going to happen and I think that’s the most important thing.”

RIO DE JANEIRO: WHERE IT ALL STARTED

The Rio Open holds a special place in Jarry’s heart. In 2020, he reached the semifinals here, his best ATP Tour result to date. His journey to the final four included a famous victory against ninth seed Fabio Fognini.

CHALLENGES ON AND OFF THE COURT

Off the court, Jarry has been grappling with a series of setbacks, including elbow and balance issues.

“That’s all. Adding that up, it’s been more than a year and so much dealing with that kind of thing. It hasn’t been easy at all. I’m trying to hold on and add positive things like here in Rio.”
