Saga, Oct. 11 (Jiji Press)—Princess Aiko arrived on a commercial flight to Saga Prefecture, Kyūshū Region, on Friday to attend the 78th National Sports Festival competitions.
This trip marks the first time that the 22-year-old princess has performed official duties outside of Tokyo alone.
The princess, the only daughter of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, will watch the athletics competitions at Saga Stadium, located in the city of the same name, and later visit the Saga Castle History Museum to see its exhibition and a short play theatrical.
The next day, the princess will attend judo matches at the Saga Arena and visit the Japanese Red Cross Society’s blood donation center in the prefecture.
