The doping scandal surrounding Jannik Sinner had consequences for other members of the Italian tennis team a few weeks ago.
In addition to the physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi, the athletics coach Umberto Ferrara also had to resign as the head of the ATP world.
Sinner’s positive doping test in March is said to have led to contamination. Sinner’s physio used a finger spray on the wound on his hand after he was about to heal his immune system – the spray contained the banned steroid Clostebol.
Djokovic’s former manager
Sinner is now able to fill in the gaps – with Novak Djokovic’s former manager!
Marco Panichi is no stranger to the role of sports coach. He has been watching Novak Djokovic’s game for the past five years. It was in May this year that the Serbian and Roman coach parted ways because Djokovic wanted to use the services of Tyrolean Gebhard Gritsch again.
New physiotherapist Ulises Bandio also supervised “Djoker”.
The newly recruited team will travel to Asia soon to watch the 23-year-old at tournaments in Shanghai and Beijing.
