Announcement |
Jack Leavitt, Georgetown University’s Head Swim & Dive Coach for the last nine years, is transitioning to become the Athletic Director at Campbell Hall Episcopal School in Los Angeles. |
New Role at Campbell Hall |
Starting in July, Leavitt will oversee the private K-12 day school’s athletic department, which has produced notable alumni such as the Olsen twins, movie director Paul James Anderson, actor Ariel Winter from Modern Family, and NBA players Aaron, Jrue, and Justin Holiday. |
Campbell Hall’s Update |
The school officially announced Leavitt’s appointment in a recent press release. |
Future Expectations |
“We are confident that Jack’s talent, experience, and leadership will be a driving force in the continued success and growth of our athletic program,” said Campbell Hall’s Head of School, Julian Bull, in a recent statement. |
Leavitt’s Success at Georgetown |
Leavitt was hired by Georgetown in 2016. He led the men’s team to its first-ever Big East conference title in 2022. Every year since, the Georgetown men’s swim team has claimed top honors. Under Leavitt’s guidance, the women’s team secured three conference runner-up finishes. He was also awarded the Georgetown Athletics’ Outstanding Coaching Achievement |
Career Background |
Before Georgetown, Leavitt was the head coach at CalTech for three years and worked as an assistant coach at Army West Point, Harvard, and NYU. Leavitt has worn the Big East conference champion’s cap as a swimmer for Seton Hall University, setting three school records along the way. |
Transition Details |
Leavitt will take over from Brice London, who is stepping down as Campbell Hall’s interim Athletic Director. London previously served as the CEO of a software company. Georgetown’s swim team learned of Leavitt’s departure on Monday through a release from the University. A new head coach has yet to be announced. Leavitt will stay with the team until the end of the academic year, a decision he described as one of the hardest he’s ever made. |
Farewell Message |
“Coaching these student-athletes has been a privilege, and the bonds we’ve built extend far beyond competition,” Leavitt shared about his Georgetown athletes. “I am so grateful for the opportunity to have led this program, and I leave knowing it is in great hands and primed for continued success.” |
Colleague Appreciation |
Leavitt expressed gratitude to his colleagues, particularly Pat McArdle and Lee Reed, for their continuous support during his tenure. |
Final Thoughts |
“Georgetown will always be a part of me and my family. Hoya Saxa, forever.” |
