A Rising Star in Clare Football

The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) is deeply saddened by the passing of Jack Boddy, a 20-year-old coach who tragically died over St. Patrick’s weekend. Boddy, originally from Limerick, had become a popular figure within Clare football circles.

Boddy served as a coach with the Clare Under-20 footballers and was previously a member of Peter Keane’s backroom team with the senior squad in 2025. He was the main Strength and Conditioning (S&C) coach for the Dermot Coughlan managed U20s this season.

The 20-year-old was reported missing from Lahinch on Sunday morning. Following an extensive search operation, a body was discovered in Lahinch on Tuesday morning.

A huge search operation had been underway for Jack in the Lahinch area.

Community Impact and Remembrance

Jack’s hometown of Bruff in Limerick cancelled their St. Patrick’s Day parade as a sign of respect. He also played underage football with St. Senan’s Kilkee GAA, who shared their own tribute.

Funeral Details

Jack’s funeral mass will take place at Kilkee Church at 11am on Sunday, March 22nd, followed by a Cremation Service at Shannon Crematorium at 4pm. The family has requested that, if desired, donations be made to Kilkee Sub Aqua Club Search and Rescue.
