Ithaca College Men’s Swimming and Diving: Bombers Battle in Narrow Loss Against WPI, Dominate Hobart
Split Decision for Ithaca College
In a day of thrilling competition, the Ithaca College men’s swimming and diving team walked away with a split decision. They easily defeated Hobart College, 248-36, but found themselves in a fierce battle against Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), narrowly losing 152.5-145.5.
Bombers Shine in Relay Events
The meet got off to an explosive start as the relay team of Alec Kutsner, Will Stanczewski, Matthew Mitros, and Spencer Alderson claimed victory in the 200-yard medley relay, posting a time of 1:34.81.
Senior Leadership on Display
Reigning Liberty League Swimmer of the Week, Ryan Cooke continued his strong form, winning the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.07. He also dominated the 100-yard freestyle (47.48) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.12).
First-Year Swimmer Makes His Mark
Freshman Ben Hurty had an impressive day, winning the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.14. He also placed third in the 100-yard backstroke.
Diving Duo Delivers Strong Performances
Senior Kian Long led the diving efforts, winning both the 3-meter and 1-meter events with scores of 291.85 and 252.40, respectively. With these performances, Long officially qualified for the NCAA Diving Regionals.

What’s Next for the Bombers
After their spirited performance, the Bombers will travel to Troy, N.Y., to face off against RPI in a dual meet slated for 2 p.m.
