Priska Madelyn Nugroho Rises to 302nd in WTA Rankings After Maanshan ITF Title
JAKARTA – Indonesian tennis sensation Priska Madelyn Nugroho clinched the championship at the ITF W15 Maanshan event in China, solidifying her status as a rising star in the country’s tennis scene. The 22-year-old top seed overcame local favorite Chening Zhu with a convincing 6-2, 6-4 victory on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
“The final match was never easy. It’s great to have won the title,” said the 2023 Southeast Asian Games women’s singles gold medalist.
This victory marks Priska’s first championship in 2025 and her ninth professional title on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women’s World Tennis Tour.
With this winning performance, Priska catapults herself to the 302nd spot in the WTA singles rankings, hot on the heels of her fellow Indonesian Janice Tjen, who currently occupies the 301st position. Janice, 23, also recently reached the semifinals of the ITF W35 event in Changwon, South Korea.
While Priska remains in China this week, Janice continues her preparations in South Korea, aiming for the ITF W35 Andong event. Both Indonesian aces will set their sights on the 2025 Southeast Asian Games women’s singles competition in Thailand later this year, where they will contest with title favorites Alexandra Eala of the Philippines and home-court heroes Lanlana Tararudee and Manchaya Sawangkaew.
