Argentine Tennis Players Prepare for Indian Wells Masters 1000

Following a successful stretch on South American clay courts, Argentine tennis players are shifting their focus to the hard courts of Indian Wells for the first Masters 1000 tournament of the season. Francisco Cerúndolo (ranked 20th) and Tomas Etcheverry (ranked 31st) will enter the competition as seeded players.

Argentine Standouts Receive First-Round Byes

Recently, Cerúndolo achieved success in Buenos Aires, reaching the eighthfinal, followed by a semi-final appearance in Santiago. Etcheverry, meanwhile, recently celebrated a victory on Brazilian soil to debut his ATP record.

Both Cerúndolo and Etcheverry will bypass the first round due to their seeding. Cerúndolo will face the winner of the match between France’s Valentin Royer (ranked 60th) and a qualifier. He aims to at least match his 2025 performance, where he reached the quarterfinals before falling to Carlos Alcaraz.

Etcheverry will also avoid an initial match, awaiting the winner of the contest between Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas (ranked 43rd) and Canada’s Denis Shapovalov (ranked 39th). He is looking to improve upon his early exits in 2023 and 2025.
