“On March 1, 2024, the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s (CAS) Anti-Doping Division found Bhagat to have violated the BWF’s anti-doping rules by committing three spot failures in a 12-month period,” the BWF said in a statement.
“Bhagat, SL3 athlete, appealed this decision to the CAS Appellate Division.
“On 29 July 2024, the CAS Appellate Division rejected Bhagat’s appeal and affirmed the decision of the CAS Anti-Doping Division on 1 March 2024,” the statement added. The eligibility period is now in effect,” the statement added.
Bhagat won a gold medal in men’s SL3 at the Tokyo Paralympics; In the final he defeated Britain’s Daniel Bethel.
The 36-year-old Bhagat boasted six golds, two silvers and three bronzes at the World Championships. He won the Arjuna Award in 2019 for his achievements in sports.
