India has announced a 15-member squad ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh on Sunday (08 September).
Rohit Sharma will lead the team as usual. Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant have returned to the first Test team. But Shreyas Iyer is out. The selectors did not give him a place in the team even though he got runs in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy.
But Yash Dayal is a surprise in the team. This star from Bengaluru did great in IPL. Besides, he did well with the ball in the first round of the recently concluded Duleep Trophy. He took 9 wickets in two innings. That is why he has been kept in the Test team.
However, India did not make any changes to their core batting unit. The batting unit they toured England with remains the same. But it was thought that Lokesh Rahul might not be in the team. But the new coach Gautam Gambhir has full confidence in him. Young Turk Sarfaraz Khan also got a place in the team. He played great against England. So this time too he got a call to the team.
There has been no change in the bowling unit either. It is also intact. Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are in the spin bowling attack. And Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Akash Deep and Yash Dayal are in the pace bowling.
Bumrah did not play again after the T20 World Cup. He will return to the field against Bangladesh on September 19. Having him is a great advantage for India.
