The World Table Tennis (WTT) Star Contender championship, a part of the official WTT calendar, rolls into India, offering a strategic boost for players with 600 ranking points on the line. This prestigious event features men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed events.

“The championship acquires a strategic value due to the 600 points it grants for the world ranking, a determining factor in the planning of the season, and the aspirations for competitive progression of players and couples within the WTT circuit,” organizers assured.

India: A Growing Table Tennis Powerhouse

India steps up as the host, bringing the largest delegation – 27 athletes and 38 entries – underscoring their growing prowess in the global table tennis scene. Notable players include Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, a medalist in the Asian and Commonwealth Games.

India has become a real threat to the main powers of world table tennis,” said Gnanasekaran.

India’s Top Seeds and Notable Representations

• In men’s doubles, Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah lead as seeds.
• In mixed doubles, Diya Chitale and Manush Shah are the top seeds, fresh off their victory in the previous edition in Muscat.
