The Chief of Staff of the President of Faso, Captain Martha Céleste Anderson Dekomwin MEDAH, representing the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ, proceeded this Thursday to lay the first stone of an amphitheater with 1000 seats within of Thomas-SANKARA University, marking the launch of infrastructure construction work for the benefit of universities and university centers in Burkina Faso.
The construction of these infrastructures is part of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education for All (IPEQ), launched in June 2024; a presidential initiative which is part of the Head of State’s vision of training qualified and competent youth. “It is in this logic that the launch of construction work on amphitheaters with 1,000 seats and 500 seats in the universities and university centers of Burkina Faso falls,” said the Chief of Staff of the President of Faso.
According to the Coordinator of the Presidential Initiative for quality education for all, Dr. Zakaria SORÉ, Secretary General of the Presidency of Faso, in addition to the 1000-seat amphitheater, it will be built at Thomas-SANKARA University, 12 laboratories, 15 tutorial rooms, 2 modular rooms with a capacity of 200 places, 20 offices for teachers, 3 offices landscaped areas and a video surveillance room.
For the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Professor Adjima THIOMBIANO, this ceremony launching work on the construction of amphitheaters for the benefit of universities and university centers in our country shows that youth and education occupy a special place in the priorities of the Head of State.
The implementation of the Presidential Initiative for quality education for all provides for the construction and modern equipment of 40 amphitheaters with 1000 and 500 seats in universities and university centers as well as university campuses and the construction of boreholes, street lighting and paving.
“The creation of all these infrastructures will ultimately make it possible to improve the quality of higher education and research in a sustainable and inclusive manner through the provision of modern and adapted infrastructures,” underlined Professor Adjima THIOMBIANO.
Housed in the National Office of Major Projects of Burkina, the Presidential Initiative for quality education for all is the translation of the will of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ for a modern education system adapted to the needs of the Burkinabè. This desire stems from his conviction that education is the basis of development.
