arolina Marín, the Spanish badminton superstar, has announced a break from social media. The three-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist (Paris 2024) shared her decision via an Instagram post earlier today, citing the need to “isolate myself a little bit from social media” and to focus on her mental health.

“I have collapsed, I am not at my best and I need to be happy. That is why I want to isolate myself from social networks.”

Fighting Back from Injury

Marín, 32, has been battling injuries, most notably the cruciate fracture of her right knee sustained in the Paris Olympics semifinals in 2024 (Antena 3). This setback came after a series of serious knee injuries, leaving her future in the sport uncertain.

“I am devastated, I don’t know if I will play again,” Marín admitted shortly after her injury (Antena 3). Now, nearly a year and a half later, she is still working her way back from her injuries.

Carolina Marín is the first and only non-Asian player to win the Women’s Singles title at the Olympic Games, achieving this remarkable feat in Rio 2016.

Looking Ahead

In her latest post, Marín also shared that she will be taking a break over Christmas to “recharge the battery.” She thanked her followers for their support and expressed her gratitude for the positive reaction to her previous posts.

We hope to see Marín back on the courts and engaging with her fans on social media in the near future. Her influence on badminton and sports as a whole is undeniable, and her presence is greatly missed.
