Jirisan Millennium Hwaeomsa Temple is set to host its 2025 and 21st Hwaeom Cultural Festival, themed “When the Wind is Watering.” This three-day event (Oct 10-12) promises a unique blend of cultural heritage, adventure, and relaxation.

A Three-Day Celebration

  • Day 1 (Oct 10): Immerse yourself in the rich history of Hwaeomsa Temple. witness the 67th anniversary memorial service of Chail-hyuk, who bravely defended the temple. In the afternoon, catch a glimpse of the rarely exhibited National Treasure No. 301, Yeongsan Gungbultang, and be awestruck by the grand display of the Buddhists’ geybuljae.
  • Day 2 (Oct 11): Stretch your way into the day with the 5th Jirisan Conversation Yoga Contest, welcoming 153 participants, including yogis, the public, and monks themselves. Iniyan, a yoga instructor from the Indian Cultural Center, will be leading the international event. As the day winds down, prepare for an evening filled with melodies at the Hwaeom Music Festival, featuring renowned artists like Cho Soo-bin and Park Kang-soo.
  • Day 3 (Oct 12): Mingle with the locals at the 2nd Jirisan Daehwa-gun Gurye-gun Line Dance Competition, followed by the ‘5th Mother’s Walking Contest,’ a meaningful 8km round-trip linked to an environmental protection campaign.
