Recruiting men through internet chat when the wife loses consciousness… Involved in sexual assault
Victim Giselle: “There’s nothing to be ashamed of”… requests for open trial
The perpetrator’s husband admits all charges… Sentencing scheduled for the 20th of next month
French prosecutors have sought 20 years in prison for a husband who secretly drugged his wife and had dozens of men sexually assault her while she was unconscious.
On the first day of the decision hearing held at the Avignon court on the 25th local time, the prosecution requested that the key defendant, Dominique Pellico (72), be sentenced to 20 years in prison, the maximum sentence.
The prosecution said, “20 years in prison is a very heavy punishment, but considering the repetition and seriousness of the incident, it is not enough.”
“This trial has shaken our society’s view of our relationships with others and our most intimate relationships,” he said, adding, “We must understand our own needs, feelings and desires while also respecting those feelings of others.” Yes.
He also emphasized, “The point of this trial is not guilt or innocence,” and “What is important is to fundamentally change the relationship between men and women.”
According to French prosecutors, Dominique Pellico secretly administered sedatives to his wife, Giselle Pellico, 72, from July 2011 to October 2020. When his wife lost consciousness after drinking alcohol mixed with drugs, he called men he had recruited through Internet chat to his home.
These men sexually assaulted their unconscious wife.
At Pellico’s suggestion, 50 men who participated in the sexual assault also appeared in court.
Some of them admitted to the charges, but 30 passed the blame to Pellico, saying “there was no intent to commit sexual assault.”
The entire trial was open to the media and the general audience at the request of the victim, Giselle Pelico. From the start of the trial, Pellico admitted his crime.
He said, “I’m guilty for what I did. I ruined everything, I lost everything. I have to pay.”
The prosecution’s final argument is scheduled to continue until the 27th. Afterwards, the defendant’s final argument will proceed.
The sentencing is expected to be handed down on the 20th of next month.
