Winona State Softball Sweeps Midwest College Classic, Howe & Elsenpeter Earn NSIC Honors

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Winona State softball is riding high after a perfect 4-0 showing at the Midwest College Classic and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) has taken notice. Izzy Howe was named NSIC Pitcher of the Week, while Bryn Elsenpeter earned NSIC Player of the Week honors.

Dominant Pitching Performance from Izzy Howe

Junior pitcher Izzy Howe of St. Charles, Ill., was a force to be reckoned with in the circle. Howe went 2-0 during the classic, racking up an impressive 22 strikeouts in just 13.1 innings pitched. She delivered two complete-game shutouts, blanking Missouri Western State 6-0 and Fort Hays State 11-0. Against Missouri Western State, Howe struck out 14 batters, improving her season record to 6-0. She allowed only four hits and zero earned runs throughout the tournament.

Elsenpeter Leads Warriors Offense

Senior Bryn Elsenpeter of Maple Lake, Minn., powered the Warriors’ offense. She hit a remarkable .615 (8-for-13) with three home runs, six RBIs, and four multi-hit games. Her impressive slash line included a 1.385 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base percentage. Elsenpeter showcased her clutch hitting against #23 ranked Pittsburgh State, going 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs.
