Rookie pitcher Jung Woo-ju rising as key bullpen resource for Hanwha Eagles
Meet Jung Woo-ju, the Fireball Throwing Rookie
In his own words, “Baseball has always been fun. I want to do my part as a middle pitcher.” Jung Woo-ju, a right-handed pitcher for the Hanwha Eagles, is living his dream and making a name for himself in the bullpen.
From High School Sensation to Rookie Draft Pick
Standing tall at 185cm and weighing 88kg, Jung is a force to be reckoned with on the mound. A graduate of Jeonju High School, he turned heads with his powerful fastball and was drafted as the first pick by Hanwha in the 2025 rookie draft. Fast forward to today, Jung is proving to be a key asset to the Eagles’ bullpen.
Fireball and Form: Jung’s Secret Weapon
“My main weapon? It’s my fastball, definitely,” Jung said with confidence. “I practice it a lot, and I have a changeup to make the game easier. But my fastball, that’s the best ball I have.”
I was always worried about my throwing form. Now that I’m taller, it seems to be paying off.
Jung’s secret lies in his dedication to maintaining a good pitching form, which he’s worked on since he was young.
Adapting to the Big Leagues
Despite the challenges of stepping up to the first group, Jung remains unfazed. “I’ve learned a lot since I joined Spring Camp,” he said. “I’m more comfortable now, and I’m looking forward to more important situations.”

Looking Ahead: From Bullpen to Starting Pitcher
While content with his role in the bullpen, Jung harbors a longer-term dream. “My dream is to be a starting pitcher,” he said. “I don’t know when, but it’s something I always think about.”
