Hamilton: I couldn’t be more excited

Lewis Hamilton said that “couldn’t be more excited”before starting his new career at Ferrari in 2025.

The seven-time champion, whose contract with the Italian team started on January 1, said that “embraces new opportunities, stays hungry and will drive forward with purpose”.

Hamilton took to a LinkedIn post to make his first comments since joining the Scuderia, adding: “Let’s make it memorable.”

He wrote: “Moving to ‘Scuderia Ferrari’ there is a lot to think about.”

“For anyone considering their next move in 2025: embrace the change.”

“Whether you’re changing industries, learning a new skill, or even just taking on new challenges, remember that reinvention is a powerful thing. Your next opportunity is always right around the corner.”

Hamilton also posted a photo on social media of himself racing go-karts as a child wearing a red Ferrari helmet.

He will join the Scuderia on the eve of his 40th birthday on January 7.

The Briton will be partnered with Charles Leclerc in what many believe will be the strongest pairing on the grid.

Ferrari completed 2024. at a high level, narrowly beating McLaren in the race for constructors’ top spot.

Leclerc has scored more points than any other driver from the Dutch Grand Prix – the race after the summer break – by the end of the season.

Hamilton has a short period to adapt to his new team before the season opener in Melbourne, Australia, from March 14-16.

Ferrari will officially present its car on February 19 in London.

The official pre-season test days will be from February 26 to 28 in Bahrain, with Hamilton and Leclerc splitting time equally in the new car.

Team boss Frédéric Vasseur said at Ferrari’s official Christmas lunch last month that Hamilton’s first six weeks at the team would be critical.

“It’s not easy, but he comes with his own experience,” Vasseur said.

“He’s not the rookie of the year, I’m not worried about that at all.”

“I’m not worried, but it’s true that it’s a challenge.”

Vasseur looks forward to 2025. to be a close battle for the championship between Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull.
