Circolo Nautico Punta Imperatore Hosts Final Stages of Gulf of Naples Winter Offshore Sailing Championship

The Gulf of Naples Winter Offshore Sailing Championship concluded yesterday with a weekend dedicated to sea competition. The regatta featured events organized by the Circolo Nautico Punta Imperatore and the sailing sections of the Air Force Academy and the Navy.

Championship Culminates in Competitive Weekend

The final two events of a calendar comprising eight stages took place on a weekend characterized by cloudy skies and moderate southerly winds. Participants competed for the final podium positions and the Francesco de Pinedo Cup, offered by the Sailing Section of the Navy of Naples and the Air Force Academy.

Class Results

The competition was divided into three classes: Gran Crociera, ORC, and Sportboat.

Gran Crociera Class

• 1st: Fruscio (Francesco Golia, Lega Navale Italiana section Naples)
• 2nd: Vis Iovis (Giovanni De Pasquale, Lega Navale Italiana section Naples)
• 3rd: Blues (Vincenzo Guida, Lega Navale Italiana section Torre del Greco)

ORC Class

• 1st: Raffica (Pasquale Orofino, Circolo Nautico Punta Imperatore – RYCCS – CCN)
• 2nd: nientemale (Giuseppe Osci and Riccardo Calcagni, Lega Navale Italiana sec. Pozzuoli)
• 3rd: Soulaima Ala Spa (Davide Russo, Reale Yacht Canottieri Savoia)

Sportboat Class

• 1st: Eurosia Pompa Pa’ (Vittoriano Neri and Marcello Cassese, Circolo Canottieri Napoli)
• 2nd: Pestifera (Bruno Conetta, Lega Navale Italiana sect. Naples)
• 3rd: Lamu’ (Roberto Pinto, Lega Navale Italiana sect. Naples)

Ascione further emphasized the event’s importance, stating, This event has become, over the years, a must for sailing in Campania, thanks also to the collaboration of the sailing clubs that gave life to the Organizing Committee. He expressed optimism for the future, anticipating increased interest in sailing due to the upcoming America’s Cup in the Gulf of Naples.

Established in 2008, Circolo Nautico Punta Imperatore has quickly become a prominent sailing club in the region. The club is twinned with the Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia of Naples, enhancing its reputation within the sailing community.
