In an interview with <em>Today's Golfer</em>, he revealed that he has already discussed the possibility with potential team members and received encouraging responses.</p>

<p>However, Luke Donald, the current favorite to captain Europe for a third successive time, is widely expected to take up the role. McDowell admits it would be a surprise if he were chosen, but he's leaving no stone unturned in his pursuit of the position.</p>

<h2><strong>McDowell's LIV Gambit</strong></h2>

<p>McDowell's recent move to LIV Golf may pose a hurdle to his captaincy aspirations. He acknowledges the challenges but is open to discussing the matter with LIV Golf officials.</p>
