Goma Basketball League Returns with Competitive Action

After a hiatus of over a year, the Goma local basketball championship officially resumed this Saturday, March 21st, at the ISC Stadium. The return was an expected recovery, but marked by a timid start, partially due to rain impacting both play, and attendance.

BBA Defeats Shem in Men’s Division

In the first men’s division, Baraka Basketball Academy (BBA) secured a 47-33 victory over ASB Shem. The game began competitively, with Shem taking a slight lead in the first quarter (11-10). However, BBA gained momentum, leading 23-18 at halftime and extending their advantage throughout the second half (10-5 in the third, 14-10 in the fourth).

Despite the efforts of coach Jah Assani’s men, Shem did not manage to reverse the trend.

PJB Élite Dominates HAD in Women’s Category

The women’s category saw a decisive win for PJB Élite, defeating HAD with a score of 54-16. Edith Kavira and her teammates controlled the game from start to finish, proving too strong for HAD, a team comprised largely of newcomers to the league.

Black Panther Starts Strong in D2

In the second men’s division, Black Panthère demonstrated their ambition with a commanding 51-28 win over Magic.

Looking Ahead

Despite the challenges, EUBAGO president Serge Salumu expressed satisfaction with the first day’s performance, stating the best is yet to come..
